My printer (HP PSC 1410) won't work !?

My HP PSC 1410 printer is giving me a pain. It says that my tri-color cartridge is incorrectly installed but I do not see what is wrong with it. I have one old one and a new one. I put in the new one so that I thought that it would work but it doesn't. How can i make it from stop showing me the error message, make the red "check print cartridge", and have my printer printing again?
