Why do guys think it's cool to be mean to girls?

so im not a guy but may i say it really isn't just guys, girls do it to, granted usually in a slyer way with rumors and back talking or they can be just as rude.so its not really guys in particular its just people and those people this time happen to be guys. as to his friends comment about him being rude to girls being cool, in truth they probably think in their own heads wow that's messed, but the thing is when people our rude the people around them kind of just ume that means the are popular and cooler if they are mocking people. so they rate them as that and then they see it works so other people start to think its cool. its just human thought. i mean say you have one kind of quiet polite guy who carries a girls books and holds doors open for them, you don't think popular. but when you have some rude guy, you instantly think popular. so he becomes popular and people ume that if they follow him they will be. as for the guy asking you out but mocking you guys do that a lot when they feel awkward or uncomfortable around someone, usually they don't know how to handle their feelings and if you said no or something he probably feels your outta his league so hes knocking you down... wow this is long lol
